Originally released in the summer of 1998, SKYNUTS is the highly celebrated second album from Japanese hip-hop and indie-pop artist Kaseki Cider. Following the massive cult success of his self-titled debut, this sophomore record captures the artist in a playful, leftfield mode, effortlessly blending his signature laid-back rhymes with infectious pop hooks and off-center arrangements.

SKYNUTS is widely recognized for its lush musicality and an all-star cast of collaborators that bridge the worlds of city pop, Shibuya-kei, and Japanese hip-hop. The album features legendary contributions, including "Pop Art" co-written with city pop pioneer Yoshitaka Minami, "Gogo No Panorama" and "Fuukano Koro" featuring Takaki and Yasuyuki Horigome (Kirinji), and the posse cut "Tropicalcider 20000mile" featuring BOSE (Scha Dara Parr) and Toshimi Watanabe (TOKYO No.1 SOUL SET). Masterfully mixed by Illicit Tsuboi, the album remains a quintessential piece of late-90s Japanese alternative culture.
